Parish Council Elections in 2027
There will be Parish Council elections in Highmoor on Thursday 6 May 2027 and at least two of the current five Councillors have confirmed that they will not be seeking re‑election.

Highmoor Parish Council comprises five seats. In order for the Council to lawfully meet and make decisions, a minimum quorum of three Councillors is required.
Residents who may be interested in standing for election and joining our supportive and committed team are encouraged to contact the Clerk for further information. The role typically requires only a couple of hours each month.
If fewer than three candidates stand for election, the Parish Council would be unable to form a quorum. In such circumstances, South Oxfordshire District Council would assume responsibility for parish‑level governance until a functioning Council can be established.
It is therefore in the community’s best interests for residents to consider becoming Parish Councillors, helping to ensure that local decision‑making remains within the village.
Although the Parish Council meets formally every other month, Councillors undertake a range of duties between meetings. These include reviewing and commenting on planning applications, monitoring trees in The Glebe and the Recreation Ground, liaising with District and County Councils and assisting residents with matters where support or guidance is needed.
Being a Parish Councillor is not an onerous commitment, but it is an important one. The Council must have at least three serving Councillors to operate effectively and to continue safeguarding the interests of the community.
