There was a terrific turnout today for the inaugural community spring bulb planting organised by Guy Gherardi on the triangular green at Highmoor Cross in memory of Highmoor resident, the late Jane Theresa Stevens.

Approval was granted by the owners of the green, the Conservators of Nettlebed and District Commons, and many neighbours, young and older, including members of Highmoor parish council, came along to help plant up hundreds of daffodils, snow drops and crocuses, all around the triangle. Everyone then stayed on to enjoy delicious hot chocolate and mulled wine, mince pies, homemade fudge and other sweet treats kindly donated for the event.

We are all very excited to see the results in the heart of the village next spring.

This is also a good opportunity to post a reminder about the initiative being organised by Selina Craig to create a new community garden in The Glebe at Highmoor. Selina will be arranging a meeting – for those interested in volunteering – in the last two weeks of January 2024 – watch out for further details here in due course.
